If you enjoy lake views when you ride, Michigan is a great option. The Great Lakes state has plenty of scenery with four of the five great lakes in its vicinity. It is picturesque and features thousands of miles of shorelines. There are also farms, wineries, mills and other items to enjoy. It is hard to know where to start when it comes to motorcycle routes in Michigan, but here are a few options.

-Clarkston Road

This short route is a nice warm up ride. It gives you a few small lakes to view in its ten miles as well as plenty of trees and lovely houses. The curves are fun and there are some straight stretches to ramp up the speed as well. For a quick afternoon adventure, hit is a great route to ride.

-Grand River Ride

Take an hour to enjoy this 35-mile route with grand views along the Grand River. You will enjoy less traveled roads with a river next to you for much of the ride. The roads have some curves and dips and though they are less traveled, they are well maintained. There are not many stops along the way, but you will pass some parks where you could have a picnic.

-East Torch Lake and Tunnel of Trees

This northern route is just less than 70 miles and takes you up Valley Road where there are scenic old farms and wooded hills. You get to go through cottage country and enjoy a tree canopy you have to see to believe. The gentle turns make it easy to look around while you ride. The Tunnel of Trees, as it is called, is arguably one of the most beautiful area rides in the Midwest. You can also stop by Fisherman’s Island for a lovely beach walk. Take extra time to enjoy some food and overlooks along the way.

-Allegan Dam and Lakeshore Drive Loop

When you have a few hours to kill, you can take in some terrific scenery complete with lakeshores, orchards, and towering pines. The roads are the highlights, though, with great twisties that shoot you around the Allegan Dam. You can also turn a lot along the scenic shoreline around Lake Michigan. There are restaurants and amenities along the way and plenty of sites to stop and see.

-Peninsula Drive

If you drive North on Peninsula Drive from Traverse City, you can make it all the way out to the lighthouse at the end of the peninsula. This drive is just 20 miles and the reward is the beach at the end. You will see crystal clear, blue water on both sides of the road along with lovely homes and bluffs. There are also a lot of quaint little stores, wineries, vineyards and thousands of cherry trees. You get hills, corners, and flat roads for a relaxing drive. The beaches, wineries and other sights are great for sore eyes.
